August 2, 2018
Washington, D.C.—The U.S. Marshals will hold an auction this week of fine jewelry and watches collected from national federal court cases.
The live auction will be held Friday, Aug. 3 (starting at 2 p.m. CDT) and Saturday, Aug. 4 (starting at 10 a.m. CDT) at the Austin Marriott North in Round Rock, Texas.
It will comprise more than 300 lots of fine jewelry and watches—including a ladies' Rolex watch, a Cartier necklace and a Tiffany diamond ring—gold and silver coins and bullion, rare books, a Steinway player piano and collectible stock certificates registered in the name of Bernard Madoff, which, according to the U.S. Marshals, have collectible value only,
Previews of the lots are scheduled for Friday starting at 10 a.m. CDT and Saturday starting at 9 a.m. CDT.
The auction also will feature a web simulcast for online bidding, which can be accessed via TXAuction.com.
Bidders at the live auction have to pay a $500 cash deposit. Online bidders must pay a $1,000 deposit by 5 p.m. CDT on Thursday, Aug. 2. Registration and pre-bidding are open now.
The U.S. Marshals consolidate pieces from federal cases across the country and hold a large auction several times a year. Proceeds generated are then used to operate the program, compensate victims and support various law enforcement efforts.
